Vernè, a quiet mountain hamlet at 900 m a.s.l., in the township of Angrogna, province of Turin in Italy, lies about 50 km from Turin, the center of the 2006 Olympic winter games.
The Angrogna Valley, a side valley of the Val Pellice, takes its name from the main stream draining the valley and comprises unspoiled forested mountain landscapes of primordial beauty.
The scene of events which marked turning points in Waldesian history, the Angrogna Valley has preserved a heritage dating back over 800 years in museum collections and tourist itineraries throughout the area.
The western flank rises in peaks of over 3000 m, while the eastern crest offers splendid views of the plain extending toward Turin and of the entire sweep of the Italian Alpine arc from the Maritime Alps to the Monte Rosa Group.
