  • History of the building

  • The building was originally a hotel run under the name of Pensione Bertin al Vernè by the family of the present owners from 1916 to 1963.

  • The hotel catered to middle-class guests from the towns of the Po plain or from abroad (Great Britain, Malta, Germany) who were attracted to the area because of the numerous Protestant churches.

  • One prominent guest was Princess Mafalda of Savoy who stayed there in 1935.
